JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The prosecutor team from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) demanded panel of judges to sentence Suroso Atmo Martoyo, graft suspect and former Pertamina’s Director for Processing, to 7 years in jail for receiving US$190,000 bribe in a long-delayed bribery case implicating Innospec Ltd.
Those demand was delivered in a trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Thursday (Sep. 17) afternoon.
In addition, KPK’s prosecutor team also asked panel of judges to order the defendant to pay Rp250 million in fine or serving additional 6 months imprisonment.
According to KPK’s prosecutor team, Suroso received US$190,000 bribe from Willy Sebastian Liem, Director of PT Soegih Interjaya, in order to secure sales of tetraethyl lead (TEL), an additive used in the production of unleaded gasoline, from Innospec to Pertamina through Willy’s company during the period of 2004-2005.
Willy Sebastian Liem, as reported earlier, has been sentenced to 3 years in jail in the same case. He has also been ordered to pay Rp5 million in fine or serving additional 3 months imprisonment. He’s now undergoing his prison sentence at the Sukamiskin Penitentiary in Bandung, West Java. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
