JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The prosecutor team from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) demands five years imprisonment for former Vice Rector of University of Indonesia (UI) Tafsir Nurchamid for allegedly committing graft act related to the Rp21 billion development project of an information technology center at the university’s library.

In the Wednesday’s (Nov. 12) trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, KPK’s prosecutor also demanded panel of judges to order the defendant to pay Rp500 million casino online in fine or serving additional five months imprisonment.

As reported earlier, KPK had named Tafsir as suspect in the case on June 14, 2013. Tafsir had been detained by KPK since March 14, 2014.

Other than Tafsir, KPK had also grilled former UI Rector Gumilar Rusliwa Soemantri, UI Director of General & Facility Affairs Donanta Dhaneswara, and Director of PT Derwiperdana Internasional Irawan Wijaya in examination sessions in order to find another suspect in the case.

KPK, however, has not yet named new suspect so far. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
