JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) continues its investigation into the case implicating Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan by summoning witnesses for questioning on Monday (Jan. 26).

Today, KPK summoned three high-ranking police officers as witnesses for Budi Gunawan. They are Brig. Gen. Herry Prastowo (Director of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Division/Bareskrim for General Crimes, Comr. Sumardji (Deputy Chief of the Jombang regional Police), and Sr. Comr. Ibnu Isticha (a lecturer at the Institute of National Police Science (STIK).

This is the second summon for the three witnesses after they failed to respond the first summon last week.

Previously, KPK has named Budi Gunawan as graft suspect since Jan. 13, 2015 over suspected transactions found in his bank accounts. KPK has blocked Budi Gunawan’s bank accounts.

KPK charged Budi with Article 12 letter a or b, Article 5 Paragraph 2, and Article 11 or 12B of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 55 Paragraph 1 point 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP). KPK also asked the Immigration office to ban Budi altogether with his son, Muhammad Herviano Widyatama, from overseas travel. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
