JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Agus Rahardjo assured that Novel Baswedan will remain stay as a senior investigator at the KPK.

Agus delivered the statement just after the announcement from the Attorney General Office (AGO) on Monday (Feb. 22) afternoon that the the Prosecutor Office (Kejari) of Bengkulu has stopped their investigation into the case implicating Novel.

As reported earlier, according to the AGO’s chief for general crimes Noor Rachmad the Prosecutor Office decided to not bring the case to the court for trial due to lack of evidence and moreover, the case has already expired since February 18, 2016.

Previously, Novel was named as suspect in a persecution allegation during his years as Police official in Bengkulu back in 2004. The case was re-emerged this year after the National Police completed the dossier of Novel and handed over the dossier to the AGO. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
