JAKARTA (Indonesia Today) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has finally arrested Golkar lawmaker Zulkarnaen Djabar on Friday (September 7). Zulkarnaen is suspect of a corruption case in the procurement of Koran (Moslem’s Holly Bible) at the ministry of religious affairs.
KPK arrested Zulkarnaen right after seven-hour long examination. The lawmaker was accompanied by his lawyer Yusril Ihza Mahendra, who is former minister of law and human rights.
Zulkarnaen insisted on his innocence in the case, which also implicates his son Dendy Prasetyo Zulkarnaen Putra.Dendy is director of PT Perkasa Jaya Abadi Nusantara, partner of religious affairs ministry in the procurement of computers for some Islamic boarding schools.
Zulkarnaen is dragged in three different cases at the religious affairs ministry. First on the Koran procurement for Budget Year 2011, secondly in the procurement of computer laboratory for Islamic boarding school Madrasah Tsanawiyah for Budget Year 2011, and procurement of Koran for the Budget Year 2012.
