JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Panel of judges at the Central Jakarta District Court has sentenced the killer couple Ahmad Imam Al Hafitd (19) and Assyifa Ramadhani (18) to 20 years in jail respectively for being proven of murdering 19-year-old Ade Sara Angelina Suroto.

Presiding Judge Absoroh, who led the Tuesday’s (Dec. 9) trial, red the court ruling. The judges concluded that both defendants have violated Article 340 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) on a premeditated murder over Ade Sara.

The court ruling, however, is lighter than the demand from the prosecutor team that wanted life sentence punishment for both defendants. The prosecutor team previously charged Hafitd and Assyifa with Article 340, Article 338, and Article 353 Paragraph 3 juncto Article 55 Paragraph 1 point 1 of the KUHP.

Commenting to court ruling, Ade Sara’s father Suroto said he believed the prosecutor team will file an appeal against the ruling.

As reported earlier, Hafitd and Assyifa have been alleged for murdering Ade Sara. According to police, two defendants tortured Sara for twenty-one hours in Hafitd’s car on March 3, 2014 before they dumped her body on the Bintara toll road in Bekasi, West Java, where it was found by police two days later.

Hafitd, Assyifa and Sara graduated from the same public high school, SMAN 36, in East Jakarta last year. Ade Sara was the only daughter of Suroto and Elizabeth Diana. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
