JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Judicial Commission (KY) is expected to summon Judge Sarpin Rizaldi for questioning session next week related to further investigation into allegation of ethical violation.
The Judicial Commission’s commissioner Erman Suparman revealed that the questioning session for Judge Sarpin is already scheduled on Apr. 28, 2015.
This is the second summon to Sarpin as he previously failed to answer the first call from the commission. Sarpin earlier refused the commission’s call as he believed that the commission has no authority to assess his ruling.
Sarpin is under scrutiny of the Judicial Commission after a number of anti-corruption activists filed a report against Sarpin to the commission. Those activists associated in the so-called Civil Society Coalition accused Sarpin for violation Article 8 and Article 10 of the Ethical Conduct of the Judges when ruling a pre-trial petition from Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
As reported earlier, Judge Sarpin of the South Jakarta District Court favored Budi Gunawan in his ruling. According to Sarpin, KPK’s decision on naming Budi Gunawan as a graft suspect is baseless and illegitimate. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
