JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is scheduled to visit Papua to attend the New Year’s eve celebration in the most eastern island of the country.

The State Palace has confirmed Jokowi’s visit to Papua. During his visit to Papua, Jokowi will visit four regencies in the island, among others, Sorong Selatan, Merauke, Wamena, and Raja Ampat before celebrating the New Year’s eve with local residents at there.

Since his first days as the President of the Republic, Jokowi has expressed his concern to the eastern region of the country.

Previously, he visited East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province to attend Christmas celebration and kicked out construction development of infrastructure projects in the province. He also inaugurated the newly solar power plant in Kupang, NTT, which is the largest solar power plant ever built in Indonesia.

Jokowi also kicked off construction of the Rotiklot dam in Belu regency and inspected the progress of the construction of Raknamo dam in another regency in the NTT province. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
