JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Jakarta Governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, a presidential nominee from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), said he will announce his running mate, or vice presidential (VP) candidate, for July 9 presidential election next week.

In a related progress, a recent survey released by the Saiful Mujani Research & Consulting (SMRC) shows that Mahfud MD (57-year-old) and Jusuf Kalla (72-year-old) are the strongest figures to become Jokowi’s running mate.

According to the survey, Jokowi could win the presidential election with 47.6 percent electability if he paired with Mahfud MD, former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court and former Chairman of PKB.

Jokowi could win the presidential election with 46.1 percent electability if he paired with Jusuf Kalla, former Vice President of the Republic and former Chairman of Golkar Party, the survey said.

The presidential election is scheduled to be held on July 9. While the registration of presidential and vice presidential pair candidate will be opened from May 18 to May 20. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
