JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has on Wednesday (Dec. 30) scheduled to arrive in Merauke, Papua, to start his three-day visit in the most eastern island of the country.
Other than Merauke, President Jokowi is also scheduled to visit three other regencies in Papua. They are Sorong Selatan, Wamena, and Raja Ampat.
The President and his entourage will celebrate the New Year’s eve in Raja Ampat along with the local residents.
Since his first days as the President of the Republic, Jokowi has expressed his concern to the eastern region of the country.
Previously, he visited East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province to attend Christmas celebration. He also kicked out construction development of infrastructure projects in the province, among others, the Rotiklot dam in Belu regency.
Jokowi, moreover, inspected the progress of the construction of Raknamo dam and inaugurated the newly solar power plant in Kupang, NTT, which is the largest solar power plant ever built in Indonesia. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
