JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo flew on the Presidential jet this early morning (May. 7) from the Halim Perdanakusuma Airport Jakarta to visit four provinces in the eastern of the country before making a state visit to Papua New Guinea (PNG).

In this domestic working visit, President Jokowi is scheduled to visit Maluku, North Maluku, Papua, and West Papua provinces. First Lady Iriana Widodo, Minister of Public Housing & Public Works Basuki Hadimuljono, and Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya are among others included in Jokowi’s entorurage.

In Maluku, Jokowi will open the national working meeting (rakernas) of the Indonesia City Administration Association (Apeksi) and launch the new planting season of rice and corn in Buru Island.

While in North Maluku, Jokowi will officially kick off the construction development of a mosque and church in the capital city Sofifi.

In the country’s easternmost resource-rich provinces of Papua and West Papua, meanwhile, Jokowi is expected to attend the ground-breaking ceremonies to mark the start of a number of construction development projects in the provinces. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
