JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has nominated Deputy Chief of the National Police Comr. Gen. Badrodin Haiti as candidate of new
National Police Chief.
In a press briefing on Wednesday (Feb 18) at the State Palace, President Jokowi said the letter regarding Badrodin’s nomination as new Police Chief will be sent to the House of Representatives (DPR) this afternoon.
In a different place, PDI-P lawmaker Trimedya Panjaitan said he is disappointed with Jokowi’s decision to cancel Budi Gunawan’s nomination
as new Police Chief.
As reported earlier, PDI-P and other political parties in the DPR have urged Jokowi to inaugurate Budi Gunawan.
The DPR earlier has accepted Budi Gunawan’s nomination as new Police Chief neglecting the decision from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on naming the three-star police general as a graft suspect.
Budi himself fought back by filing a pre-trial lawsuit against KPK’s decision. Latest, presiding judge Sarpin Rizaldi of the South Jakarta District Court ruled that KPK’s decision on naming the three-star police general as graft suspect is baseless and illegitimate. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
