JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo leads the groundbreaking of the construction of the first phase of the Rp23.8 trillion Light Rapid Train (LRT) project, Wednesday (Sep. 9).
The groundbreaking takes place at the toll road gate of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) in East Jakarta.
The government will spend around Rp11.9 trillion to build the first phase of the project. The first phase of the LRT project comprises of three routes;
1. The 13.7 KM route spanning from Cibubur to Cawang
2. The 10.5 KM route spanning from Cawang to Dukuh Atas
3. The 17.9 KM route spanning from Bekasi Timur to Cawang
While in the second phase, the government is expected to build a total 41.5 KM route spanning from Cibubur-Bogor, Dukuh Atas-Palmerah-Senayan, and Palmerah-Grogol.
President Jokowi earlier has signed Presidential Regulation No. 98/2015 to accelerate the development of the LRT project that will connect the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) areas. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
