JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – A new survey from the respected Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) shows that Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and his running mate Jusuf Kalla is leading over Prabowo Subianto and his running mate Hatta Rajasa with 9% margin ahead of 9 days into the July 9 presidential election.

LIPI’s survey, which financed by the State budget, found 43% votes for Jokowi-Kalla, while 34% voted for Prabowo-Hatta. LIPI’s survey also reported about 23% of respondents yet to decide their votes.

LIPI explained that the survey was conducted in the period of June 3-24, 2014 with margin of error 3.51%.

Results of LIPI’s survey are not too big of a gap with previous surveys from another respected institution i.e. research division of Kompas, the largest newspaper in the country.

Kompas, in its latest survey conducted in the period of June 1-15, found Jokowi-Kalla leading with 7% margin over Prabowo-Hatta.

According to Kompas’ survey, 42.3% voted for Jokowi-Kalla, while 35.3% voted for Prabowo-Hatta. Kompas reported 2.2% margin of error of the survey. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
