JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is expected to meet the speakers of the House of Representatives (DPR) in a consultative meeting on Monday (Apr. 6) regarding the nomination of Comr. Gen. Badrodin Haiti as the new Chief of the National Police.
Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, as quoted by Kompas.com, confirmed President Jokowi will attend the meeting.
The consultative meeting itself is scheduled this morning at around 10:00 am of Jakarta time. The President reportedly will be accompanied by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno and Minister of Law & Human Rights Yasonna Hamonangan Laoly.
The consultative meeting is a request from the DPR Speakers. As reported earlier, Jokowi, in his letter to the DPR in February 2015, decided to withdraw Budi Gunawan’s nomination. Jokowi then also decided to nominating Badrodin as new police chief.
The DPR, meanwhile, should give their decisions on whether to accept or to reject Badrodin’s nomination before Apr. 17, 2015. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
