JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Headlines of major newspapers this morning mostly praised efforts from governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo and vice governor Basuki Tjahaja (Ahok) Purnama for glorious Jakarta Night Festival Saturday (June 22) to celebrate the city’s 468th birthday.
Kompas, the largest newspaper, published a front page headline titled ‘The Awaited Party” for enthusiasm of millions of people attending the festival last night.
Koran Tempo, meanwhile, runs a headline titled ‘A Splendor Birthday Party for Jakarta’. The Jakarta Post also wrote ‘At 486, populist Jakarta parties on’.
Even president SBY wrote in his twitter account “Happy birthday Jakarta, hope to become a comfortable home for all, and inspiration for other cities.”
