JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Jero Wacik, a graft suspect and former Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM) under SBY administration, has been found guilty for committing graft and so, panel of judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court sentenced him to 4 years in jail, which lighter than the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) demand.
In addition, panel of judges also ordered Jero to pay Rp150 million in fine or serving additional 3 months imprisonment. Panel of judges also ordered Jero to pay Rp5.073 billion in substitution to the State losses.
Furthermore, panel of judges also ordered the KPK to return a part of Jero’s assets already seized by the KPK and moreover ordered them to re-opening their blockade over some of Jero’s bank accounts.
Previously, the KPK demanded 9 years imprisonment for Jero. In addition, the KPK’s prosecutor team also demanded panel of judges to order Jero to pay Rp300 million in fine or serving additional four months imprisonment.
The KPK’s prosecutor team, moreover, also demanded panel of judges to order the defendant to pay Rp18.7 billion of substitution to the State losses. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
