JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) revealed that January 2014 inflation was 1.07%, compared to 0.55% in December 2013. Year-on-year inflation was 8.22%.

stapple foods contributed inflation of 2.77% while processed food, beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco contributed 0.72% inflation. Housing, water, electricity, gas, fuel contributed 1.01%.

Clothing contributed inflation of 0.55%, health contributed 0.72%, education, recreation, and sport contributed 0.28%, and transportation, communication, financial services were responsible for 0.20% inflation.

Off 82 cities, 78 cities recorded inflation, highest occurred at Pangkal Pinang, and 4 cities recorded deflation, highest at Sorong.
