JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) revealed on Monday (February 1) that January 2016 inflation was 0.51%, compared to 0.96% in December 2015.
Of 82 cities, 75 cities recorded inflation, highest occurred in Sibolga (1.82%) and the lowest occurred in Padang (0.02%). While 7 cities recorded deflation, highest occured in Gorontalo (0.58%) and the lowest occured in Tanjung Pandan (0.02%).
The inflation in January 2016 was contributed by staple food (2.2%), processed food, beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco (0.51%), housing, water, electricity, gas, fuel (0.53%), clothing (0.26%), health (0.36%), education, recreation, and sport (0.15%). While transportation, communication, finance services recorded deflation of 1.11%.
The inflation rate of volatile component of calendar 2016 and year on year were 2.40% and 6.77% respectively.
