JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) revealed on Monday (February 2) that January 2015 deflation was 0.24%, compared to 2.46% inflation in December 2014.

Of total 82 cities, 51 cities recorded deflation, highest deflation occurred in Padang (1.98%) while the lowest deflation occurred in Bandung and Madiun.

While 31 cities recorded inflation, highest at Ambon (2.37%) and lowest at Malang.

The deflation was contributed by transport-communication-financial services (4.04%).

While the inflation came from staple food (0.6%), processed food, beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco (0.65%), housing, water, electricity, gas, fuel (0.8%), clothing (0.85%), health (0.66%), and education, recreation, and sport (0.26%.
