JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Leaders from various religions have urged President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and all election organizers to remain neutral during the presidential election.

Taking place on Thursday (July 10) at the PP Muhammadiyah’s headquarter, several leaders from various religions held a joint press conference.

Attending the press conference were PP Muhammadiyah Chairman Din Syamsuddin, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) leader Slamet Effendy Yusuf, NU leader M. Iqbal Sullam, Andreas Yewanga and Gomar Gultom from the Indonesian Communion of Churches (PGI), Rusli Tan from the Indonesian Buddhist Council (Walubi), WS Wawan Wiratma from the Indonesia Confucianism High Assembly (Matakin), and Nyoman Udayana from PHDI (Parisada Hindu Dharma Indonesia).

They also urged the government and the election organizers to protect the recapitulation of votes from manipulation and fraud.

The General Election Commission (KPU) will officially announce th final results of official counting of July 9 presidential election on July 22, 2014. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
