JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – A famous Indonesianist Benedict Anderson from Cornell University, US, died at the age of 79 on Saturday (Dec. 12) night in Batu, Malang, East Java.
According to Ben’s adopted son Wahyu Yudistira, Ben’s remains will be cremated on Tuesday (Dec. 15) in Surabaya and his ashes will be spread over the Java Sea.
Actually, Ben is in his nostalgic visit in Indonesia.
He was delivered a lecture at the University of Indonesia on Thursday (Dec. 10) prior to planning to visit some nostalgic places in East Java.
Ben Anderson’s most famous book among Indonesian scholars is Imagined Communities: Reflections on the Origin and Spread of Nationalism, whic published back in 1983. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.
