JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) ended down 0.96% to 4,678 on Monday (July 22), as profit taking hits certain stocks recently gained. Regional markets, excluding Malaysia’s KLSE, closed in green.
Banking stocks led the market’s downturn. Bank Negara Indonesia dropped 3.43%, Bank Rakyat Indonesia lost 2.47%, Bank Mandiri fell 2.3% and Bank Central Asia declined 1.96%.
Blue chips also closed in red. Astra International fell 1.5%, Kalbe Farma shed 0.68%, Lippo Karawaci slipped 0.74%, Perusahaan Gas Negara dropped 3.39%, Trada Maritim down 0.7%, and Global Mediacom lost 2.1%.
Bucking the trend were Telkom (+0.86%), Waskita Karya (+2.47%), Wijaya Karya (+1.16%), and Media Nusantara Citra (+1.6%).
Nymex’s crude oil increased 0.44% to US$108.53 per barrel. The rupiah was traded flat at Rp10,068 against the US Dollar.
