JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) opened higher 0.19% at 5423 this morning following regional markets.

Asia shares followed U.S. and European markets to the upside Thursday as traders reviewed upbeat quarterly reports and the ECB’s policy announcement, Reuters reported.

Nymex’s crude oil fell 0.67% to US$56.01 per barrel in Asian trading this morning while gold rose 0.37% to US$1,205.80 per ounce.

Investors focused buying shares of Berau Coal Energy (BRAU) this morning, then the stock soared 24% on report Sinarmas Group, through Asia Coal Ventures, plans to acquire BRAU for a possible US$309.81 million bid. This acquisition would make Sinarmas to become a major coal player in Indonesia, because it also controls PT Golden Energy Mines Tbk (GEMS), which produces more than 7 million tons of coal per annum.

Adaro Energy also rose 1.56%, Bumi Resources climbed 3.75%, Gudang Garam hiked 1.45%, Vale Indonesia lifted 2.36%, and Matahari Putra Prima gained 2.66%.

While Perusahaan Gas Negara fell 1.25%, Visi Media declined 1%, and Sekawan Intipratama lost 1.95%.
