JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) opened down 1.27% at 4272 this morning as investors took profits after the index gained 1.24% on Thursday (Jan 2), the first trading day for this year.

Wall Street also starts 2014 with drop as investors took profits. Regional markets were also in red zone this morning, to tracking Wall Street.

Adaro Energy dropped further by 1.89%. Profit taking hit Alam Sutera (-2.2%), Astra International (-1.44%), Bank Mandiri (-1.23%), Bumi Serpong Damai (-1.52%), Perusahaan Gas Negara (-1.09%), Kalbe Farma (-1.52%), and Telkom (-2.3%).

Profit taking also hit construction stocks; Adhi Karya (-1.3%), Waskita Karya (-1.19%), and Wijaya Karya (-1.81%). Other losers were London Sumatra (-1.58%) and Lippo Karawaci (-1.1%).

Nymex’s crude oil increased 0.3% to US$95.73 per barrel in Asian trading and gold rose 0.38% to US$1,229.80 per ounce.
