JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) ended higher 1.24% at 4327 Thursday (Jan 2), the first trading for this year. Vice president Boediono rang the bell for opening the trading at IDX this morning.

Among blue chip stocks, Astra International gained 2.2%, Alam Sutera jumped 5.8%, Bank Mandiri rose 3.18%, Bumi Serpong Damai increased 2.33%, Perusahaan Gas Negara hiked 2.79%, Kalbe Farma jumped 5.6%, and Telkom up 1.16%.

Contruction stocks were also focus of buying. Adhi Karya gained 1.99%, Waskita Karya lifted 3.7%, and Wijaya Karya surged 5.06%.

Among losers were Adaro Energy (-2.75%) and London Sumatra (-1.55%).

Nymex’s crude oil increased 0.39% to US$98.80 per barrel and gold rose 1.49% to US$1,220.20 per ounce. The rupiah weakened to Rp12,245 against the US Dollar.
