JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) ended higher 0.48% at 5190 Wednesday (August 20) led by blue chip stocks.
Bank Rakyat Indonesia gained 1.6%, Vale Indonesia rose 1.4%, Kalbe Farma hiked 2.4%, and Telkom up 0.93%.
Other gainers were Bank Tabungan Negara (+2.9%) and Global Mediacom (+2.3%). While Waskita Karya fell 1.08%, Multipolar declined 1.8%, and Pakuwon Jati dropped 7.58%.
Some blue chip stocks also closed in red. Bumi Resources lost 1.63%, BW Plantation shed 1.39%, and London Sumatra down 0.73%.
World stocks mostly halted their recent rally on Wednesday as the BOE minutes jolted UK markets, Reuters reported.
Nymex’s crude oil icreased 0.24% to US$93.08 per barrel while gold retreated 0.1% to US$1,295.30 per ounce. The rupiah weakened to Rp11,707 against the US dollar.
