JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) ended down 1.1% at 4,171 on Thursday (August 22), but closed of its lows. Most regional markets also closed in red.

Property stocks led market’s downturn. Alam Sutera plummeted 13.24%, Lippo Karawaci fell 8.47%, and Bumi Serpong Damai down 4.29%.

Banking stocks also fell, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (-4.4%), Bank Mandiri (-1.97%), and Bank Negara Indonesia (-1.3%).

Other losers were Kalbe Farma (-2.9%), Telkom (-2.74%), Media Nusantara Citra (-4.59%), Waskita Karya (-9.09%), Wijaya Karya (-11.9%), and Global Mediacom (-5.7%).

Among gainers were Adaro Energy (+18.06%), Bumi Resources (+4.94%), and Aneka Tambang (+4.6%).

Nymex’s crude oil inched up 0.0% to US$105 per barrel. The rupiah weakened further to Rp10,795 against the US Dollar.
