JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) closed flat at 5033, only inched up 0.05%, after Muhammad Jusuf Kalla was today (May 19) declared as vice president nominee or running mate of Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
Jokowi is a presidential nominee supported by a coalition of four political parties (PDI-P, PKB, Nasdem, and Hanura). While Kalla was former Vice President of the Republic and former Chairman of Golkar Party.
The declaration took place at 12 am Jakarta time at Gedung Joang 45 in Menteng, Central Jakarta. Jokowi-Kalla pair is scheduled to register to the General Election Commission (KPU) this afternoon.
Looklike, investors sold on news as they have expecting before reflecting on market’s recent gain. IDX gained since the opening market but profit taking hit after the index reached 5091.
Telkom gained 1.58% at morning close, after lifting by almost 6% early trade this morning. Adaro Energy rose 1.2%, Vale Indonesia hiked 3.45%, Kalbe Farma increased 1.24%, and Bank Bukopin climbed 3.79%.
Among losers were BW Plantation (-2.2%) and Multipolar (-2.63%).
