JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) closed lower 0.78% at 4584 Monday (March 3) led by blue chip stocks.
Stock prices plummeted while oil prices shot up on Monday as escalating tensions between Russia and the West after Russia bloodlessly seized a part of Ukraine, Reuters reported.
Nymex’s crude oil rose 1.59% to US$104.22 per barrel and gold increased 1.93% to US$1,347.10 per ounce. The rupiah strengthened further to Rp11,596 against the US Dollar.
In Jakarta bourse, blue chip stocks; Astra International fell 2.16%, Bank Negara Indonesia lost 2.2%, Bumi Serpong Damai declined 1.63%, Bumi Resources shed 2.15%, Jababeka lost 2.7%, Kalbe Farma down 1.38%, and Telkom fell 1.08%.
