JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) closed higher 0.79% at 5523 on Tuesday (April 7), led by gains in construction stocks.
Asian shares ended mostly higher Tuesday following a rise on Wall Street overnight, with many investors shrugging off Friday’s disappointing U.S. jobs data as they returned from holiday, Marketwatch.com reported.
Alam Sutera jumped 3.25%, Bank Rakyat Indonesia gained 1.15%, Bank Negara Indonesia rose 1.39%, Jababeka hiked 1.54%, and Lippo Karawaci lifted 2.23%.
Investors focused buying state construction stocks today. Adhi Karya soared 8%, Waskita Karya gained 2.09%, Wijaya Karya jumped 5.44%, and PTPP climbed 3.42%.
Nymex’s crude oil fell 1.55% to US$51.33 per barrel and gold declined 0.77% to US$1,209.20 per ounce. The rupiah weakened back to Rp12,982 against the US dollar.
