JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Aburizal “Ical” Bakrie, Chairman and presidential nominee from Golkar Party, and Lieutenant General (ret) Prabowo Subianto, patron chief and presidential nominee from Gerindra Party, are committed to jointly enter into in the July 9 presidential election.
“Whether as number one (presidential candidate) or number two (vice presidential candidate), I have no problem. Pak Prabowo also does not mind,” Ical said as quoted by Kompas.com on Tuesday (May 6).
Ical said he is optimistic to build the best formula with Prabowo in winning the presidential race.
Both Golkar and Gerindra are still struggling to get additional support to pass the presidential threshold of 25 percent of national votes or 20 percent of parliamentary seats. According to quick counts of legislative election, Golkar only secured around 15 percent popular votes, while Gerindra got around 12 percent popular votes. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
