JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Four human rights organizations has filed a lawsuit to the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN) against the General Election Commission (KPU) for passing Prabowo Subianto as presidential candidate as the retired Army general was involved in a serious human rights violation in the past, Detik.com reported.
According to Haris Azhar, Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras), the lawsuit has been filed to the PTUN Jakarta this morning (June 25). Haris urged the PTUN to soon proceed their lawsuit.
Besides Kontras, three other human rights organizations also sue KPU’s decision No. 453/Kpps/KPU/2014 are Setara Institute, Imparsial and the Indonesian Legal Aid & Human Rights Association (PBHI).
On the other side, the advocate alliance (Aliansi Advokat Merah Putih) had also filed a lawsuit to the PTUN on June 9, to sue KPU for passing Joko ”Jokowi” Widodo as presidential. This alliance claimed KPU’s decision on Joko as a defect or legal violation.
Both Prabowo and Jokowi are now competing in July 9 presidential election. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
