JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The House of Representative (DPR) Commission III has accepeted the nomination of graft suspect Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan as the new Chief of the National Police, to replace Gen. Sutarman.
Head of the Commission III Aziz Syamsuddin said the Commission accepted Budi Gunawan’s nomination as well as Sutarman’s dismissal through the acclamation.
According to Aziz, also lawamaker from Golkar Party, the Commission III will deliver its decision on Budi Gunawan’s nomination as the new Police Chief to the House plenary session Thursday (Jan. 15).
As reported earlier, the House Commission III conducted a fit and proper test over Budi Gunawan this morning following his nomination as the sole candidate of new Police Chief by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), meanwhile, has named Budi as suspect in the so-called fat bank account case. KPK also asked the Immigration office to ban Budi from overseas travel. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
