JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Maj. Gen. Muhammad Andika Perkasa, son-in-law of General (ret) AM Hendropriyono, has been sworn in as the new Commander of the Presidential Guard (Paspampres) replacing Maj. Gen. Doni Monardo.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Presidential Guard’s headquarters in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (Oct. 22). Also attending the ceremony were the Commander of the Indonesian Military (TNI) General Moeldoko and Andika’s father-in-law Hendropriyono, former Chief of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN).
Prior to the inauguration, Andika served as Spokesperson of the Indonesian’s Army (TNI AD). Andika graduated from the Military Academy in 1987.
Born in Bandung, West Java, on Dec. 21, 1964, Andika married to Diah Erwiany, the eldest daughter of Hendropriyono.
Maj. Gen. Doni Monardo, meanwhile, has been promoted as the new General Commander of the Army’s Special Forces (Kopassus). Doni has replaced Maj. Gen. Agus Sutomo, who has been promoted as the new Jakarta’s Military commander ( Pangdam Jaya). (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
