JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Commander of the Indonesian Military (TNI) General Moeldoko confirmed on Wednesday (Oct. 15) about the appointment of Brig. Gen. Muhammad Andika Perkasa, son-in-law of General (ret) AM Hendropriyono, as the new Commander of the Presidential Guard (Paspampres) replacing Maj. Gen. Doni Monardo.

Moeldoko said Andika’s appointment is accordance to the request of President-elect Joko “Jokowi” Widodo. According to Moeldoko, the position handover ceremony (sertijab) will be held On October 23.

Moeldoko added that Doni Monardo has been promoted to fill the post of the General Commander of the Army’s Special Forces (Kopassus).

Prior to the appointment, Andika served as Spokesperson of the Indonesian’s Army (TNI AD). Andika graduated from the Military Academy in 1987.

Andika married to Diah Erwiany, the eldest daughter of former Chief of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) Abdullah Mahmud Hendropriyono.

During the 2014 presidential campaign, Hendropriyono supervised Jokowi’s campaign team. Latest, Hendropriyono was installed as one of the advisers of Jokowi’s Transition Team. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
