JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Halim Perdanakusuma airport in East Jakarta will serve domestic commercial flights on Friday (Jan 10).
Four airlines have agreed to fly out of Halim, but only Citilink, the budget subsidiary of flag carrier Garuda Indonesia, will begin operating at Halim airport this month. Citilink will serve flights to Semarang, Yogykarta and Malang.
The three other airlines — Garuda Indonesia, AirAsia and Batik Air — will gradually move some of their flights to Halim.
The government also plans to expand Halim Perdanakusuma, managed by state airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II, as Soekarno-Hatta airport has been overcrowding.
