JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Coordinating Minister for Human Development & Culture Puan Maharani revealed on Tuesday (Oct. 28) that the government will next month launch the Indonesia Health Card (KIS) and the Indonesia Smart Card (KIP), part of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s priority programs for improving services in healthcare and education for the poor.
Talking to the press at her office, Puan said she will hold a meeting with related ministries to discuss the implementation of KIP and KIS programs.
The daughter of the fifth President of the Republic and chairwoman of the PDI-P Megawati Soekarnoputri said the two programs are substantial part of the Mental Revolution proclaimed by President Jokowi.
Puan earlier also shared her beliefs that the KIP program can be integrated to the healthcare security program under the Social Security Management Agency’s (BPJS). As Coordinating Minister for Human Development & Culture, Puan coordinates eight ministries, including the Health Ministry, the Culture & Basic-Middle Education Ministry, and the Research-Technology & High Education Ministry.
Back in the 2014 presidential campaign, President Jokowi has promised pro-poor programs through, among others, KIP and KIS programs, similar to the programs of the Jakarta Health Card (KJS) and the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) in Jakarta during his tenure as the Governor of Jakarta.
