JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The government of Indonesia, through ministry of energy and mineral resources, has permanently revoked 50 mining business permits (IUP) in Morowali regency, Central Sulawesi province, Bisnis.com reported.
During first quarter of this year, the government had revoked 85 IUPs in Morowali regency. The government will also revoked other IUPs which considered as overlapping permits or conflict in interest, such as in Jambi province.
In Morowali, nickel mineral IUPs total 144, of which 80 IUPs on exploration stage while the rest 64 IUPs on production stage. But some companies have stopped their activities as they are required to build nickel smelter facility.
Nation wide, total IUPs reach 10,922, of which 6,042 IUPs are clean and clear. East Kalimantan province has 1441 IUPs, the largest, while Bangka Belitung has 1086 IUPs, the second largest.
