JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The central government, through the Ministry of Finance, has banned 165 taxpayers from overseas travel due to tax evasion which reached Rp598.8 billion.
Vice Minister of Finance Mardiasmo revealed that 40 out of the 165 mischievous taxpayers are foreign citizens from Asian, American, Australia, and European countries. Their tax bill, Mardiasmo said, totaled Rp57.2 billion.
While other 125 mischievous taxpayers are Indonesians with tax bill of Rp541.6 billion in total.
Mardiasmo explained that the ban is accordance to Article 29 and Article 30 of the Law No. 19/2000.
He said the government will take a more firm action to detain mischievous taxpayers if failed to pay their bills. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
