JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Three new members of the ethics council (MKD) of the House of Representatives (DPR) from the Golkar Party were trying to block the MKD to bring the case implicating the Speaker of the House Setya Novanto, who is also a Golkar politician, to the ethics trial.
During the latest meeting of the MKD on Monday (Nov. 30), the three new MKD’s members from Golkar questioned the legal standing of Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM) Sudirman Said on reporting Novanto to the MKD. They are Kahar Muzakir, Adies Kadir, and Ridwan Bae.
Those three Golkar lawmakers also questioned the validity of wiretap provided by Sudirman to the MKD. The three Golkar lawmakers, moreover, suggested the establishment of the DPR’s special committee instead of continuing the MKD’s trial against Novanto. They have reportedly supported by other MKD’s members from Gerindra and PPP.
As reported earlier, Sudirman reported Novanto to the MKD for allegedly abusing his power of promising a favor to PT Freeport Indonesia. Sudirman provided a transcript and an original wiretap to the MKD regarding conversation between Novanto, businessman M. Reza Chalid, and Freeport Indonesia CEO Maroef Sjamsoeddin.
