JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – General Motors (GM) has stopped producing Chevrolet Spin cars since January 2015 and now focuses to market its sport utility vehicles (SUV) and pick up, Detik.com reported.

Pranav Bhatt, acting president director for GM Manufacturing Indonesia, said GM will continue selling its Chevrolet brands in Indonesia including supporting the after sales services for consumers.

He said GM opted to stop producing Chevrolet Spin cars in Indonesia, based in Bekasi (West Java), due to financial problem. As a result, GM had laid off around 500 workers and paid severances for 10-18 times of basic salary.

Since commencing the production of Chevrolet Spin in May 2013, GM suffered loss of up to Rp2.4 trillion.
