JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Gede Pasek Suardika publicly confirmed his willingness to challenge former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) in the chairmanship congress of Democratic Party scheduled to be held in Surabaya, East Java, May. 11-13. SBY now serves as chairman of the Democratic Party.
“I’ve already told Mas Anas (Anas Urbaningrum) to run (in the upcoming chairmanship congress of the Democratic Party). I beg for your prayers,” Gede Pasek said.
“And I know I might lose (to SBY) in said chairmanship congress. But the most important thing is there will be a competition to watch,” Gede Pasek added.
Gede Pasek said he’s waiting to another Democratic Party politician Marzuki Alie to also declare his chairmanship bid.
Gede Pasek, moreover, reminded SBY about the latter’s previous statement during the Democratic Party’s extraordinary congress back in 2013 about to take more respected role as chairman of Democratic Party’s Advisory Council.
Gede Pasek Suardika now serves as member of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD). The Democratic Party politician is known as one of loyalists of Anas Urbaningrum, graft convict and the ousted chairman of the Democratic Party. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
