JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Flag carrier airlines PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk (GIAA) seeks loan of US$20 billion, equivalent Rp266 trillion, from United States’ Export Import Bank (US Exim Bank), to fund the purcahse of 60 units of aircraft from Airbus and 30 units of aircrafts from Boeing
GIAA has on Monday (June 15) signed Letter of Intent (LoI) with France-based plane maker Airbus related to its plan to acquire 30 787-9 Dreamliners, as well as up to 30 737 MAX 8 airplanes. The agreement is part of GIAA’s revitalization program and to support the airline’s future plan to further expand its network globally.
GIAA now has almost 600 daily flights and a fleet of 169 aircraft with the average age of less than five years old. As at March 2015, GIAA’s assets reached US$3.17 billion while liability amounted US$2.29 billion.
