JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The prosecutor team from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed on Thursday (May. 7) that Daniel Sparingga received illicit money of Rp185 million from Waryono Karno, graft suspect and former Secretary General of the Energy Ministry, during Daniel’s term as special staff of Sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). Daniel was once questioned as a witness in Waryono’s case.
In the Thursday’s trial, KPK’s prosecutor team also revealed that Waryono, through his staff, Sri Utami, delivered Rp25 million to the Presidential Security Detail Force (Paspampres), Rp10 million to HMI, and Rp50 million to GP Ansor.
The KPK’s prosecutor team, moreover, revealed that around each of 83 journalists also received Rp650 thousand or Rp53.95 million in combined from Waryono through Sri Utami.
Previously, KPK has named Waryono Karno as graft suspect since Jan. 16, 2014, following the finding of US$200,000 fund at Waryono’s office in August 2013.
Waryono has been charged with two different cases. First, Waryono allegedly caused the state to lose Rp11 billion from graft practices in several projects at ESDM Ministry. KPK charged Waryono with Article 2 Paragraph 1 or Article 3 of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 55 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).
Second, Waryono also allegedly received gratification, violating Article 12 letter b and or Article 11 of the Anti-Corruption Law. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
