JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Ahmad Syafi’i Maarif, former Chairman of the country’s second largest Muslim organization Muhammadiyah, has been appointed as adviser for the Transition Team established by President-elect Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
Andi Widjajanto, one of four deputies of the Transition office, confirmed Ahmad Syafií appointment to Detik.com, Thursday (August 7). Andi said that Jokowi will soon introduce another 2 advisers.
Jokowi has on Monday (August 4) established a Transition office to helping prepare the next government, including to organize priorities of policy and program and to design the cabinet.
The Transition office is led by Rini Mariani Soemarno, who is known as an aide of PDI-P Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri and former Minister of Industry & Trade under Megawati’s administration.
Rini is assited by four deputies; Andi Widjajanto, Hasto Kristiyanto, Anies Baswedan, and Akbar Faizal. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
