JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Less than nine months before ending his term, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is expected on Friday (Jan. 17) night, to complete his collection of books, honorary degrees, medals, awards, and song albums with a memoir chronicling the past 9 years of his presidency.
The title of SBY’s upcoming memoir will be “Selalu Ada Pilihan” or “There is Always A Choice”. Kompas Gramedia takes the role as the publisher of the 824 pages memoir. While the launching ceremony will take place at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).
This memoir was earlier planned to be launched in December 2013, but for the undisclosed reason, the launching did not happen.
SBY, as quoted by Kompas on Friday, stated that the upcoming memoir is not such a complain or even a self defense to confront all of critics against him. This memoir, SBY said, is aimed to share his experiences and knowledges during 9 years in leading the country. SBY also said he is ready to receive negative and minor responses from people over his memoir.
SBY also said his memoir to be launched tonight is not the last book he wrote as he plans to produce another 2 books in next 3-5 years, the political memoir book and the autobiography.
That being said, SBY has so far written 4 books and collected 8 honorary degrees, 3 medals, and 2 awards. Recently, the president has almost added his collection when the Military Commander, General Moeldoko, proposed to grant him with the title of *Jendral Besar* (a five-star military general, the highest ranking in the military). But however, SBY has firmly refused the recommendation to receive the five stars’ title. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
