JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The electronic domestic sales reached Rp38.5 trillion in 2013, grew by 11% from Rp34.7 trillion in 2012, below target of 15% set by the association of electronics distributors.

The slowing growth of electronic sales was mainly due to the 20% rupiah correction against the US Dollar, which affected the people purchasing power.

The price of the imported electronic products rose 20%, then local products also followed suit as most components of local electronic products are imported using dollar denomination.

However, the association said, if domestic economy would grow by above 5%, the electronic sales will still grow by 10% this year.
