YOGYAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Saut Situmorang, a newly elected commissioner of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), expressed his rejection to the idea of punishing corruptors with a death sentence, Kompas.com reported.

The expert staff of the chief of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) said he will resign from the KPK if the death sentence would be applied to corruptors.

He said that corruption is a systemic crime. So therefore, it’s better to settle the problem through prevention acts.

Saut, moreover, also expressed his agreement to the plan of amending the KPK Law No. 30/2002.

As reported earlier, Saut and other four figures have been elected as the new five KPK commissioners by the House of Representatives (DPR). (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
