JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The House of Representatives (DPR) is scheduled this morning (Jan. 11) to hold its first plenary session in 2016.
According to the deputy speaker of the DPR Agus Hermanto, the plenary session will be held at around 10:00 am of Jakarta time. the Democratic Party lawmaker added that they will hold a meeting between the DPR leadership and the head of each faction of political party prior to the plenary session.
The plenary session, Agus said, initially will be discussed about the replacement of Setya Novanto as the speaker of the DPR.
But there is no certainty yet whether the DPR will determine Novanto’s replacement today following dualism of leadership within the Golkar Party.
Previously, Aburizal “Ical” Bakrie’s Golkar proposed Ade Komaruddin as Novanto’s replacement. While their rival, Agung Laksono’s Golkar, endorsed Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita as the new speaker of the DPR. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
